Introduction and working principle of rubber release agent

Rubber release agent is a functional material between mold and finished product. The release agent has chemical resistance and will not be dissolved when contacting with the chemical components of different resins (especially styrene and amine). The release agent also has heat resistance and stress resistance, and is not easy to decompose or wear; The release agent is bonded to the mold without being transferred to the processed parts, which does not hinder the painting or other secondary processing operations. Due to the rapid development of injection molding, extrusion, calendering, mould pressing, lamination and other processes, the amount of release agent has also increased significantly.

Introduction and working principle of rubber release agent

In theory, the release agent has large tensile strength, so that it is not easy to polish when it is in frequent contact with the molding resin. This is especially true when there are frosted mineral fillers or glass fiber reinforcements in the resin. The release agent has chemical resistance and will not be dissolved when contacting with the chemical components of different resins (especially styrene and amine). The release agent also has heat resistance and stress resistance, and is not easy to decompose or wear; The release agent is bonded to the mold without being transferred to the processed parts, which does not hinder the painting or other secondary processing  operations.

The role of the release agent is to smoothly separate the solidified product from the mold, thereby obtaining a smooth and flat product, and ensuring that the mold is used multiple times.

The specific principle of action of the release agent is as follows:

1. The polar chemical bond interacts with the mold surface to form an adsorptive film with regenerative power;

2. The silicon-oxygen bond in polysiloxane can be regarded as a weak dipole (Si+- O-). When the release agent is spread into a single oriented arrangement on the mold surface, the molecules take a unique extended chain configuration;

3. The free surface is covered by alkyl in a densely packed manner, and the release ability increases with the density of alkyl; However, when the alkyl group occupies a large steric hindrance, the stretching configuration is limited, and the release ability decreases;

4. The molecular weight and viscosity of the release agent are also related to the release ability. When the molecular weight is small, it has good spreading performance, but poor heat resistance.

Specific performance requirements for release agents are as follows:

1. Mold release (lubricity). When forming a uniform film and a complex shaped shaped object, the size is accurate.

2. Good mold release continuity.

3. The appearance and surface of the molded object are smooth and beautiful, without causing dust adhesion due to brushing sticky release agents.

4. Superior secondary processing performance. When the release agent is transferred to the formed object, there is no adverse effect on the processed object such as electroplating, hot pressing, printing, coating, and bonding.

5. Easy to apply.

6. Heat resistance.

7. Pollution resistance.

8. Good forming and high production efficiency.

9. Good stability. When used together with compounding agents and materials, their physical and chemical properties are stable.

10. Non flammable, low odor, low toxicity.
